Testosterone treament advances at Raleigh pharma startup led by former GSK execs

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Raleigh-based Marius Pharmaceuticals, led by several former GlaxoSmithKline scientists and executives, is making progress on its first potential drug. Marius has submitted a New Drug Application (NDA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seeking approval of Kyzatrex, its novel treatment for hypogonadism, or testosterone deficiency, in men. “Submission of our first NDA is an important milestone, bringing attention to the role of testosterone as a critical hormone and the multitude of effects it can have on our health system,” said Himanshu H. Shah (Marius photo) , founder and executive chairman of Marius, in a prepared statement. “This is the culmination of over a decade of meticulous research and dedication and is just the beginning for Marius, as our deep pipeline will continue to further the research and development in this important therapeutic area.”

Driver killed in I-440 crash in Raleigh :: WRAL com

Updated December 19, 2020 7:30 a.m. EST By Rosalia Fodera, WRAL multimedia journalist Raleigh, N.C. A Raleigh man died in a crash early Saturday that closed part of eastbound Interstate 440 in Raleigh. A 2004 Toyota SUV driven by Christopher Howell Oakley ran off the right side of I-440 between Glenwood Avenue and Six Forks Road and hit a guardrail, police said. The SUV then traveled across all four lanes of traffic and struck the concrete median barrier before crossing back over all four lanes and ending up on the shoulder of the highway. Oakley was the only occupant of the vehicle. A police report doesn t provide a cause for the crash but indicates that he wasn t speeding at the time of the crash and that investigators don t believe alcohol or drugs were a factor.

COVID-19 cases at USPS Raleigh office may delay deliveries :: WRAL com

WRAL learned Thursday night that several employees from the USPS Processing and Distribution Center in Raleigh tested positive for COVID-19. On Friday at the post office on Six Forks Road in Raleigh, waits were as long as one hour. A record number of packages will be sent this holiday season as more people stay home during the coronavirus pandemic. The USPS has hired extra staff to deal with the demand, but customers may wait longer than usual at post offices or for their packages to arrive. Shipping a package? Better do it this week
