Steve Trittschuh’s been around the soccer world enough times to know a good deal when he sees one. And when he accepted the post as Saint Louis Football Club’s Academy director, he reflected on a lifetime of experience as a top-level player and coach.

EDWARDSVILLE Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has selected two internal candidates among its three finalists in the search for its first Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (VCEDI).
SIU School of Dental Medicine (SDM) Chief Diversity Officer, Director of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Services Dr. Cornell Thomas is chairing the search committee. The candidates will participate in virtual interviews in late January and early February.

EDWARDSVILLE The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Early Childhood Center (ECC) has partnered with The Metro East Diaper Bank to supply 17 families with diapers.
On Jan. 14, about 2,400 diapers were distributed to parents who expressed a need.
“This is an important offering for our families, because many are struggling during this time as they juggle school, parenting and sometimes, multiple jobs,” said Lealia Williams, ECC family support specialist. “We thought it would be nice for them to have one less thing to worry about.”

SPRINGFIELD A criminal justice reform bill opposed by Madison County law enforcement officials was approved Wednesday by the Illinois House of Representatives.
Just before noon, the House voted 60-50 to approve House Bill 3563, formerly known as House Bill 163. The passage came about seven hours after the Illinois Senate, at around 4 a.m. Wednesday, approved the bill 32-23.
