Several anti-transgender bills have been filed this legislative session, and while most have failed to clear initial deadlines, advocates say the damage has already been done in the message it sends to Oklahomaâs LGBTQ youth.
At least 10 bills were filed this year to limit everything from participation in school sports to health care access for transgender or LGBTQ youth, according to an analysis by The Frontier.
Sisu is a shelter for homeless youth between the ages of 15 and 24.
They provide overnight shelter, clothing, hot meals, and case management, and for the 16 beds they have available, they currently have 18 residence.
So, this week they are conducting their youth resource fairs across the city. The events are Tuesday through Friday. We’re gonna be at Nappy Roots Books, at Sisu Youth Services, and at We the People cultural hub from 3 to 6 (p.m.) each day, handing out supplies such as clothing, toiletries, reusable mask, food, Sisu coordinator Jamie Caves said.
Youth participating in the events will also receive a free lunch, as well as some other valuable resources for mental health, and even HIV testing. This event provides the necessary number when it comes to the homeless population. Leigh took the lead in the D&I forum held in India in sharing Philippines Pride best practices and initiatives and established an annual PAN GSC SOGIE Awareness session, which she personally facilitates. In addition, she played a critical role in the establishment of Pride ERGs in GSC India and China.
