Hermits live subject to a bishop, but they are not supported by funds from their dioceses. In the interview, Sister Mary Catherine Rose explains that hermits “depend on God’s divine providence.” They do such paid work as they can that does not interfere with their vocation, but traditionally, they have been “beggars,” relying on the donations of others.
“It is through the goodness of our brothers and sisters in Christ who keep us going with monetary support to our vocation, providing us with our study books, a spiritual retreat once a year and the expenses and upkeep of the hermitage and more,” she revealed.

The season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17. Lent is a 40-day season of reflection and preparation before the celebration of Easter. It is also the season of fish fries when tons of battered fish and side dishes are produced in the kitchens of churches, fire halls and restaurants.
The pandemic shut down most fish fries last year but many are returning this year, operating solely as take-out operations.
we re awaiting we think members of the smart family, possibly elizabeth smart. her father ed, mother lois, sister mary catherine or family spokesperson. we don t know whether they plan to offer comments at that setup with cameras and microphones but if they do, we will go to that immediately. ted row laenltdz has been covering the story for us. he was in the court when the verdict was read and joins us outside the courtroom. all of the buzz this morning was whether or not that jury was going to find bryan david mitchell guilty or not guilty by reason of insanity. obviously they decided he was not insane, he was of sound mind when he committed those crimes. reporter: yeah, took them five hours. three hours of deliberation last night and then two hours here this morning. when mitchell was brought in to court before the verdict was read, he was singing. he has done this throughout the entire six-week trial. today he was singing a mormon hymn. he was allowed to stay in court
