Two of Santa’s Helpers Provide Relief for 30 Local Kids
Two of Santa’s best helpers weren’t going to let COVID-19 get the best them. The elves are Tony and Vinnie Avanzato, who every year since 1999, along with Sister Angeline of St. Mary’s School, provide Christmas for kids that might not have one. The virus made them change the way they were doing business…that’s providing Christmas joy to 30 elementary school kids in need of winter coats, boots and toys. “I am not going to take Christmas away from the children,” said Tony. “Especially this year!” Their success comes from the generous donations of many local businesses and friends annually. Who benefits from this generosity, approximately 30 school children, selected from the three elementary schools: Valleyview, Greater Plains and Riverside. If you’d like to help out, donations to the Children’s Christmas Shopping Fund may be made to Antonio Avanzato, 528 Gifford Hill Road, Oneonta, NY 13820.
