People can now get tested for COVID-19 in the comfort of their cars. Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka is offering the service, which allows people to remain socially distanced in their vehicles while they wait in line and receive a coronavirus test without stepping out of their vehicle.
Drive through testing is available on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. There will be no testing on Christmas day or New Year’s Day.
It normally takes four days for the test results to be returned from the outside lab. Although the hospital would like to offer same day tests, FMC Assistant Administrator Mike Madden said demand is so great the hospital is currently unable to offer it.
