european markets fell. the ftse down more than 2%. dax down more than 3%. no surprise, folks. dow futures are down this morning. now to preday on wall street. a 2.4%. the european debt crisis weighs heavily on investors minds and wallets. the only one to finish on the up side, walmart. amanda knox and her family are expected to return to seattle as early as today. knox broke down in tears after a jury overturned her murder conviction yesterday for the stabbing death of her british roommate meredith kercher four years ago. appearing dazed, knox had to be helped from the courtroom after this verdict was read. her italian boyfriend cleared of murder charges. knox s sister told reporters her family is thankful. we are thankful for the support we have received from all over the world. people who took the time to research the case and could see that amanda and travrafaefaello innocent. they spoke but about her acquittal and say meredith is the forgotten person. our senior in

60 miles from sirte, where gadhafi s son is digging in. richard engel explains why this fight is so pivotal. sirte is incredibly important. if sirte falls, it s a military garrison town, the rebels will be right on the door step of tripoli. the problem is, they are not making progress, and gadhafi s forces pushed the rebels back several more miles. gadhafi s troops are dug in, created a defensive perimeter around sirte and are preparing for a final stand there. and its increasingly clear that without more western intervention, more powerful military strikes, the rebels simply aren t going to take sirte. and there are conflicting reports this morning about the woman who claims she was gang raped by gadhafi s troops. sky news reports, she will face charges. but a government spokesman insists that s not true. but they do admit, the men she is accusing are filing defamation charges. and breaking news out of syria this morning.
