PHUKET: Snorkelling and diving sites at several marine national parks in five provinces have been closed due to the worsening coral bleaching situation.
Athapol Charoenshunsa, director-general of Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), has been appointed acting director-general of Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP), replacing Rutchada Suriyakul na Ayutthaya who was accused of corruption.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) updated its website on the operation of national parks nationwide on Friday. Many parks have reopened, though some partially, while several remain closed either due to Covid-19 measures or because of the rainy season.
