abc s chief justice correspondent pierre thomas leading us off with the news and these images coming in now from houston. reporter: tonight, shots fired. three houston police officers hit. the suspect initially on the run. in this surveillance video obtained by abc station ktrk, a vehicle chased by police crashing into a curb. police on its tail, sirens blaring. the door of the fleeing vehicle opens, and immediately, the sound of gunfire. one officer runs for cover. another running into the street firing back. iltd s a shootout. and at some point, the suspect fleeing the scene with officers in pursuit. several of the officers sustaining wounds. shot in the arm, one shot in the foot. one officer down right here, needs transporter. reporter: they were transported to a local hospital. they are in stable condition. as the nation continues to reel from a surge in gun violence, police increasingly the targets. the houston area was already mourning corporal charles galloway, who was
false flag operations. or staged provocations, is the expression being used here. to give you an example. the city of donetsk in that pro separatist held areas, the breakaway republics. today we heard sirens blaring. the leader of one of the breakaway republics come forward and urge civilians to leave saying there was an imminent ukrainian military major offensive. what was interesting was that when cnn went closer and looked at the meta data of this video message that this pro separatist leader delivered, we found in fact this message was recorded two days ago. not today. very shortly after that, we ve also seen images of a regime ablaze in the same city, in donetsk. separatist leaders saying this
of ukraine. so according to the pentagon, russia has been having ten warships with marines on board in the black sea. we are on the sea of azov, in the sea of azov, connected to the black sea. we have seen ships in the distance, but there are not firing. they are not at war, they appear to be normal commercial ships. and so, any kind of naval battle off of the sea of azov. as far as i can see, from where i m looking at the water. it is not underway. and if there was going to be a beach landing, it could happen all along this southern coast. but as of now, there are no sirens here, there is traffic in the streets. we saw some police cars and ambulances moving with their sirens blaring. it was not clear if they were responding to any particular incident. although, now, as we are
[ sirens blaring ] sirens going down in kyiv this morning. the government urging citizens there to move for shelters as they brace for what s to come. joining me is erin mclaughlin in kyiv. what is the situation there in e. reporter: hey, andrea, just a short while ago, really minutes, we heard sirens in the distance once again in the capital. just as i m talking to you now, i just heard a boom to the right of me. another one just now. again, this is an extraordinary situation with explosions being heard here in the capital throughout the day. russian troops did manage to enter the city today, about two and a half miles from where i m standing now. we heard gun battles going on as
independently verify how many. president zelensky said they re being attacked from the south, the north, the east and he is asking ukrainians to give blood donations. air raid sirens echoed as the invasion unfolded.
