London area health officials are applauding the turnout at mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics, reaching thousands of people at the pop-up sites since late June.
The Middlesex-London Health Unit and Middlesex-London Paramedic Service have been running pop-up clinics at schools, community centres and workplaces for several weeks in a bid to get shots to harder-to-reach populations.

“We are seeing really good turnout. It’s really exciting. Since June 21, we’ve vaccinated over 5,000 individuals at these mobile clinics,” said Maureen MacCormick, the vaccine campaign’s chief of operations.

There were 19 new cases of the coronavirus recorded in our region Sunday, but no new COVID-19 deaths, the Middlesex-London Health Unit reported.
With Saturday’s 21 cases, that makes for a total of 40 cases announced this weekend on the health unit’s website – and Sunday marked five days since the last local death.

London Health Sciences Centre did not offer any updates on its website about the outbreak that was declared Friday at University Hospital’s U4 Medicine 1 unit.
