For over 50 years, the Tessier family ran the Sippewissett Campground, which is now AutoCamp Cape Cod. And last Saturday, June 10,more than 50 family members reunited at the campground,
FALMOUTH Tucked off Route 28 and overlooking Buzzards Bay, silver, futuristic-looking camping vehicles line walking paths with picnic tables and fire pits alongside. The 31-foot camper known as the Airstream comes with a Tempurpedic mattress, a flat-screen TV and utensils for barbecuing.
The setup is part of the luxury campground AutoCamp Cape Cod, which opened April 1 at the site of the former Sippewissett Campground and Cabins.
The site provides visitors a glamorous camping experience known by some as glamping. AutoCamp operates luxury “glampgrounds” in Yosemite, Zion, Joshua Tree, Russian River and the Catskills, but its Palmer Avenue location is its first in New England.
