The worst damage appears to be in the mountains of western iran. At least 14 provinces in iran were affected. The quake was so powerful, it was felt as far west as the mediterranean coast. Most of the victims are in a town ten miles from the border where the main hospital was severely damaged. Some villages lost power and communications.
