Kota Kinabalu: A mangrove charcoal maker, charged with murdering a man here three years ago, will go on trial on Aug 23–26 this year.
High Court Judicial Commission Amelati Parnell set the date for Sisal Benigno during final management of his case on Thursday.
Sisal, 43, was accused of murdering one Mohamad Nizam Khairul, 20, between 8.30pm and 9pm on Feb 18, 2018, in front of the ASNB Asia City, near the Restoran Ibunda, Singgah Mata, Asia City.

Sisal was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty, on conviction.

SANDAKAN: The General Operations Force (GOF) 15th Battalion seized a total of 4,560 packs believed to be contraband cigarettes and 499 cartons of liquor estimated to be worth RM693,108 in a raid on Saturday.
GOF 15 commanding officer Supt Toipi Lamat said the 8.10pm raid was conducted by the Tiger Platoon, in Kg Singgah Mata, Tongod .
He said a further investigation found that the location was also used as a transit point for contraband goods believed to be brought in from Kota Kinabalu before being sent and marketed in Beluran and here.
ADVERTISEMENT Also seized was a cargo truck where boxes of cigarettes believed to be smuggled were found, he said, adding that further investigations will be conducted under the Customs Act 1967.
