Among others, the meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Division, Khusro Bakhtiar, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Institutional Reforms and Austerity Dr Ishrat Hussain, representatives of the provincial governments and senior officials.

ECNEC okays Rs325 bln for road construction, reservoirs projects Business March 12, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Thursday approved nearly Rs325 billion for infrastructure development, including construction of roads and water reservoirs projects. Ecnec took the decisions during a meeting presided over by finance minister Hafeez Shaikh. The Ecnec approved the greater Karachi Water Supply Scheme (K-IV) 260 MGD (Phase-I) to provide additional 650 MGD water to meet the demand of the city. The total cost of the project will be Rs25,551.77 million which will be shared on a 50:50 percent basis by the federal government and the government of Sindh respectively.

APP ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Thursday approved Rs322.44 billion worth of 13 major development projects to be executed over the next few years. A meeting of Ecnec, presided over by Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, approved Rs13.260bn worth of World Bank-funded human capital investment projects (health sector) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to improve availability, utilisation and quality of primary healthcare facilities in four districts of the province. The projects would cover a local population of about 8.4 million, besides 500,000 refugees.
