According to details, the headmasters of government schools, who have been protesting in support of their demands for the past several days, have staged a sit-in outside the Sindh Assembly. At a press conference outside the assembly, the protesters said that they were recruited on a contract lasting 89 days while those with a 90-day contract become eligible for permanent appointment.

Karachi March 1, 2021 The Government of Sindh has decided against acting on the recommendation of the federal administration that all educational activities may be resumed with full attendance starting on Monday (today). Addressing a news conference at his camp office on Sunday, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani said that the last meeting of the steering committee had decided to reopen the province’s educational institutions in strict compliance with the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ghani said that keeping in view the state of the public and private institutes, the meeting had also decided that only 50 per cent of the students would take classes on any given day. He referred to the federal education minister’s recent announcement that educational institutions across Pakistan can now resume 100 per cent attendance, and that they should continue to comply with the SOPs.

The Sindh health department had informed the cabinet that 300,000 PCR kits were needed for which the cabinet approved funds and requested the federal government to provide the kits.
