Sindh to have its own medical commission, decides cabinet

The Sindh cabinet has decided to create the Sindh Medical Commission (SMC) to regulate the private medical institutions in the province and their fee structure. The cabinet also approved a requirement for the private medical institutions in Sindh to grant at least 95 per cent admissions to students of the province.
The meeting was held on Thursday with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in chair. All the provincial ministers, advisers, Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Shah and secretaries attended the meeting.
The health department told the cabinet that the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) was created by the federal government in September 2020 for the regulation and control of medical professionals and forming a uniform minimum standard for basic and higher medical training and recognition of qualification in medicine and dentistry.
