STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – For the last few years the city has been expanding bike lanes and protections for cyclists as more and more New York City residents turn to bikes as transportation.
Just this week, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a plan, in partnership with the city Department of Transportation (DOT), to increase the number of protected bike lanes installed throughout the five boroughs.
The city’s goal for the year? The installation of 30 miles of bike lanes by the year’s end.
