Central Railway gets a month to free tracks of scrap ByKamal MishraKamal Mishra / Updated: May 23, 2021, 06:00 IST Mission ‘scrap-free tracks’ launched after several incidents of miscreants placing old rail pieces on tracks surfaced A major accident was averted by an alert train driver in January 2017 near Diva station of Central Railway’s Mumbai division. A similar incident was reported on May 19, 2021 in the Pune division of Central Railway. In both cases, iron pieces (old rail) were found on the tracks. Luckily, both the drivers spotted those rail pieces on time and applied emergency brakes in the nick of time. These rail pieces were said to be place on the tracks by miscreants.
