Buried in a background report Monday on the Ford government’s provincewide lockdown plan, is a prohibition on “drive-through” events.
Many organizations and individuals with something to share have relied on the “drive-through” format since the COVID-19 pandemic was declared in March. “Drive-through” allows for safe social distancing with the additional protection of participants confined inside a vehicle.
But within the context of a shutdown “drive-through” is problematic because the goal between Boxing Day and the end of January is to keep people in their homes. An attraction that entices people otherwise is problematic while viral infections are spiking.
