The following is addressed to West Nipissing council:
I am writing to you as a concerned citizen of West Nipissing, asking that you consider a proposed resolution to treat our city and our region more fairly when it comes to the COVID-19 response. Many people are upset that our region’s residents and businesses have to suffer from more (seemingly arbitrary) restrictions than the rest of the province – especially when our city and our health district has been one of the least affected regions by COVID-19.

Meredith Coulas has several lessons planned for students returning to her classroom, but none so pressing as how to protect themselves against COVID-19.
Coulas teaches French immersion in Sudbury, and her collapsed class of Grades 1 through 3 will be returning to in-person learning on Monday. She wants to take a little extra time to review all the safety protocols as her students, like children across northern Ontario, come back to the classroom for the first time since December.
“I probably will try to get to school a little bit earlier, for my own sanity, just to ensure that my classroom is setup,” said Coulas. “I will be reviewing all my safety protocols but I’ll also spend a few minutes in the classroom, or maybe longer than a few minutes, reviewing with the children. …some kids probably haven’t left their house or apartment in the past th

A letter has been sent to Premier Doug Ford asking for the District of Muskoka’s COVID-19 numbers to be reported separately from Simcoe County’s.
The Bracebridge Chamber of Commerce, Bracebridge BIA, Muskoka Lakes Chamber of Commerce, Huntsville BIA, the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce and Muskoka Tourism are the ones that penned the letter.
“The recent move of the entire Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit into the Control/Red zone is unfairly hindering our residents and our businesses ability to provide services and goods to our community and possibly survive these uncertain time,” the group says in the letter.
