When thinking about sustainable design, acoustics probably don’t come to mind, but depending on the build type, dampening noise pollution may be an important part of the brief. Taking this into consideration, Knauf has developed Stratopanel, an acoustic ceiling lining with built-in air purifying CLEANEO Technology. According to Knauf, used in the company’s perforated acoustic plasterboard range, the technology reduces both smells and airborne pollutants such as VOCs, improving overall air quality.
Whilst expansive glass walls may look aesthetically pleasing on the exterior, it can actually have negative effects on an interior, such as excess heat and fabric fading from UV radiation.
As the experiences of Smart Design Studio attest, achieving sustainability is no easy task. It involves ambition and true commitment. And it also involves choosing products like performance blinds from Verosol.
Smart Design Studio was conceived with some pretty specific environmental performance goals in mind. With help from Verosol’s SilverScreen range of blinds, the award-winning project has achieved at least one of these – it is able to function throughout the year without air-conditioning.
