Microsoft to establish Malaysian data centre region Microsoft Microsoft has announced plans to establish a data centre region in Malaysia. As part of the new Bersama Malaysia (Together with Malaysia) initiative, the move aims to empower the country’s digital economy and transformation.  Microsoft will deliver cloud services locally and enable data to be stored in-country. Microsoft says that it also plans to provide skills to an additional one million Malaysians by end of 2023 “to help create economic opportunities for people and businesses in the digital era,” and will help form the MyDigital Alliance Leadership Council to collaborate on cloud-first policy recommendations.

Censof most active, surges to five-year high in morning trade

KUALA LUMPUR (April 20): Technology company Censof Holdings Bhd, which has been named as a partner of Microsoft under the Bersama Malaysia initiative, saw its share price surges to a five-year high in active morning trade today. As at 9.57am, the stock had soared 34.21% or 13 sen to 51 sen, translating into a market capitalisation of RM271.83 million. Trading volume stood at 174.83 million, exceeding its 200-day average volume of 8.59 million. The stock had climbed 88.9% year-to-date (YTD) from when it was trading at 26.5 sen apiece on Dec 31 last year. Yesterday, the government announced a partnership with Microsoft under the Bersama Malaysia initiative, which will see the hyperscaler establish its first data centre region in the country.

Microsoft signs five MoUs under Bersama Malaysia initiative

PUTRAJAYA: Microsoft Corp, through its newly-launched Bersama Malaysia” initiative, has signed five memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with government agencies and local companies to train about one million Malaysians by end of 2023 to help create economic opportunities for people and businesses in the digital era. Microsoft Malaysia managing director K. Raman said Microsoft, together with its local partner Enfrasys Solutions, has been appointed by the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) to provide cloud services to the public sector agencies through 2023. Microsoft will also partner with Censof Holdings , Silverlake Group and Web Bytes to accelerate digital transformation in the nation’s key industries, including financial services, retail, food and beverage, as well as the public sector, he said at the launch of the initiative by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin here today.

  Microsoft will establish its first datacenter region in the Greater Kuala Lumpur area and deliver access to the full Microsoft Cloud, which includes: Microsoft Azure , enabling anyone to invent with purpose using cloud services and capabilities that span computing, networking, databases, analytics, AI and Internet of Things; Microsoft 365 , to connect, collaborate, work remotely and learn online with innovative productivity tools; Dynamics 365 and Power Platform , to rapidly build and manage critical enterprise business solutions at scale with intelligent business applications.   The new datacenter region will also deliver Azure Availability Zones , providing additional resilience options for highly available applications, and  support Microsoft s sustainability goals .
