This former mill town set on the Kennebec River, and home to Colby College, is getting a massive makeover, re-inventing itself as the artsy hotspot of northern New England.
Construction could begin as soon as this fall on a new structure to replace the buildings that housed The Last Unicorn restaurant, which were destroyed by fire April 23.
What hasn't been determined is whether the owners will rebuild the popular local eatery, the Last Unicorn, after a devastating and dangerous fire that broke out when oily rags spontaneously combusted.
Property owner Sidney Geller said he wants to move quickly to rebuild on Silver Street, and the owner of The Last Unicorn restaurant, John Picurro, said he wants to work with Geller to reopen on the same spot.
