Fishing Report: Champions of environment detect change in the air By Dave Monti, Special to the Journal © Courtesy of Dave Monti Jerry Elmer Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., held the 11th annual Rhode Island Energy, Environment and Oceans Leaders Day on Dec. 4, an online event this year with more than 300 attending. The event recognized champions of energy, environment and oceans in Rhode Island.  And it fostered awareness of state and national environmental policy today and what the future might look like with a new presidential administration.  Participants came from government, environmental advocacy groups as well as oceans, energy and fishing communities. Speakers made up an international who’s who advocating for the environment, clean air and oceans.
