It is important to recall that the Convergence Program is a strategic document presenting the main elements of the national fiscal policy in the medium term.  The program is prepared annually by the Ministry of Finance and submitted for evaluation to the European Commission by the end of April at the latest (this year Bulgaria is almost a month late), according to the schedule of the so-called European Semester - an initiative for enhanced coordination of economic policies in the EU.
