The HC is hearing a petition filed by Arrive Safe Society of Chandigarh, through its president Harman Singh Sidhu, against Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the state of Punjab.
According to Balwinder Singh, the spokesperson of ‘Quami Insaaf Morcha’, Hardeep Singh was detained by the district police after he allegedly displayed a T-shirt that read ‘Free Sikh Prisoners’.
Director General of Police of Chandigarh, Praveer Ranjan, reported that around 25 to 30 personnel, including members of the Rapid Action Force, were injured in the attack.
The SGPC has called a special gathering at its headquarters at Teja Singh Samundari Hall on May 11 in which several other Sikh bodies are likely to participate to make efforts for the release of Sikh prisoners lodged in different jails for the past nearly three decades.
