World Bank Supports Angola s Electricity Sector with $250-million Loan

Sihle Qekeleshe, Web Editor February 25, 2021 In an effort to support Angola’s electricity sector, the World Bank has approved funding of $250 million through its Electricity Sector Improvement and Access Project. The funds will be directed at increasing electricity access in the cities of Luanda, Benguela, Huila and Huambo. Approximately 196,500 new electricity connections will be installed, benefitting close to one million people. The project will also assist state-owned electricity company Empresa Pública de Produção de Electricidade with improving electricity expansion and service. Additionally, the project will enhance the commercial performance of Empresa Nacional de Distribuição de Electricidade, the national electricity distribution company.

Sihle Qekeleshe, Web Editor February 23, 2021 The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and oilfield services provider Schlumberger have launched Egypt Upstream Gateway, a national digitalization project that will assist in promoting Egypt’s exploration and production potential globally. The digital platform grants access to over 100 years of accumulated national onshore and offshore seismic, non-seismic, well-log, production and additional subsurface data. In turn, the data serves to de-risk decision-making by providing the ability to explore multiple basins and evergreen data, and can be accessed globally. “Egypt is in the process of launching the Egypt Upstream Gateway, a digital subsurface platform that will act as an up-to-date repository of the country’s subsurface data,” said H.E.
