Hoon Hian Teck on Significant Infrastructure Government Loan Bill Singapore

Rising in support of the Significant Infrastructure Government Loan Bill in Parliament on Monday (May 10), NMP Hoon Hian Teck spoke about why it is justified for the Government to issue new bonds to finance significant infrastructure projects, for instance, to raise national productivity or mitigate the effects of climate change. Prof Hoon also said the approach will allow Singapore to benefit from the current low interest rate environment, but the country will have to maintain the low credit risk it has achieved from past fiscal prudence.
