Bustamante Hospital and Savanna-la-mar Hospital are celebrating the successful handover of items committed from the record-breaking $55.3 million raised in 2020.
Even as preparations for this year’s virtual staging of the Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run are in high swing, beneficiaries of the 2020 execution – Bustamante Hospital, Savanna-la-mar Hospital and the Clifton Boys’ Home are celebrating the successful handover of items committed from the record-breaking $55.3 million raised.
One of the last large-scale events to be held before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Jamaica, the Caribbean’s largest road race attracted some 26,000 participants on February 16, 2020, who ran, walked and wheeled the 5.5 kilometre route to support the cause and surpass the fundraising target.
Alysia White, Executive Director, Sagicor Foundation, said the donation drop off boxes were put in place to give more persons the opportunity to participate in the foundation’s drive to raise much-needed funds for the beneficiaries of this year’s charity run.
Persons wishing to support the fundraising efforts for the beneficiaries of the 2021 Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run can now do so using the donation drop boxes at select Sagicor Bank branches island-wide as well as some offices of Advantage General Insurance Company.
The selected Sagicor Bank branches and Advantage General Insurance locations are equipped with a branded Sigma Run donation box to allow persons to donate to the cause and contribute to raising a target of $50 million for the three worthy beneficiaries – the Annotto Bay Hospital, the Portland Hospital and a one-year educational programme for students who have been significantly impacted by the disruption in schools caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
