A Heneage councillor has resigned in a fallout out with leadership leading to an early by-election on North East Lincolnshire Council

A Labour councillor has resigned in a fallout with leadership of his group on North East Lincolnshire Council.
Chris Nichols, who has represented Heneage ward for three years, said he had differences with the leadership of the Opposition Group on North East Lincolnshire Council.
He said he was disappointed that former fellow ward councillor, Ros James had been deselected for the ward last year, after serving it for eight years. She was a former cabinet member under the previous Labour administration which lost in May 2019.

The Labour Party suffered one of their biggest defeats in recent years, losing eight seats in the North East Lincolnshire Council local elections.
The group lost control of the authority in 2019 and have now sustained one of the biggest losses in the party s history.
Former council leader Dave Watson lost to Conservative Georgia Astbury, 19 as Immingham is now represented by three Conservative councillors.
