show it holds authority in that region. leland vittert is streaming live from tobruk. reporter: the sue battles in the towns of zawiya and mustapha, help held offer the proqaddafi forces but were not able to make any gains. the rebels have become better organized. they raided for weapons and tanks and antiaircraft guns to try to prevent the libyan aircraft from bombing the cities or taking shots at the depots that they are trying now to get most of their weapons from. the protesters have been very clear that they are not going to stop until muammar qaddafi gets out. there is no negotiation for them. on the flip side qaddafi says he will not step down any time soon. he will never leave his
homeland. he has shown a willingness to turn his phers nare reese and mn protesters and ordinary citizens. that s certainly something different than we ve seen a lot in these revolutions. the rebels continue to organize. they want to do this alone. they do not want the united states to step in and help. qaddafi said he s not leaving. he says my people love me, my people will die for me. jon, it appears the real question coming up in the next couple of days and weeks as this continues to play out is going to be how many libyans are willing to die to kick qaddafi out of office. we ve spoken to a number who say that is the only option, victory or death. jon, back to you. jon: leland vittert streaming live from tobruk, libya. thank you. we ll get more reaction from american leadership and experts on the other side of the break. also ahead, are you living on top of a ticking time bomb,
barry, the stout which is a destroyer and the mt. whitney a command ship. but it s stuff to enforce the no-fly zone if you don t have the planes to do it with. reporter: you can t do it. the question becomes do you want to do it. i think secretary hillary clinton had a good point. we don t want this to be a revolution that has made in america stamped on it. let the libyans do this. our role is a different role. one of the roles we could have is the egyptian military who are talking to the libyan military. let s see the egyptian military ask the libyan military to stand down. when qaddafi is gone that s where we have a major role to play to set up institutions they need for selfgovernment and giving them economic assistance. jon: k. t kt mcfarland our fox s defense analyst thank you.
