WWE Mattel Reveals Headlined By Return Of Popular Retro Line

WWE Wrestlemania is this weekend, and part of the excitement every year are the reveals of what figures will be joining the top-selling Mattel line. As a collector myself, this is always an exciting day, and to be honest, this may be one of the best reveal events they have ever done. On top of tons of awesome new entries in their Elite, Legends, Ultimates, and Masters of the WWE Universe lines, the long-rumored and hoped-for return of the Retro line is here. There were so many reveals and a lot to get to. So let s check it all out below.
The Godfather On If He Received Heat For Missing His Cue At WrestleMania VIII
Charles Wright is best known as The Godfather in WWE but he’s had a plethora of gimmicks throughout his career. He’s been known as The Goodfather, Kama, Kama Mustafa and his first extended WWE run came as Papa Shango in the early 90s.
Papa Shango was a unique, ghoulish character that was a voodoo practitioner. Wright talked about that early gimmick when he joined the Scheduled for Two Falls podcast.
“I wish, looking back, I wish I was not so green in the business because I could probably have been better at being Papa Shango like Kamala was at being Kamala,” said Wright. “I probably could have been a better Papa Shango but dude, I had no idea what I was stepping into. Going from a country tobacco chewing, country music listening, old truck driving, biker to a voodoo man. It was a stretch!”

The WWERoyal Rumble is one of the most popular gimmick matches in pro wrestling history. Generally, thirty men participate in this bout. The match begins with two Superstars in the ring, and a new participant enters the battle royal after a fixed time interval.
The late Pat Patterson created this match, which has gained incredible popularity in the last 33 years. Since 1993, the winner of the Royal Rumble has received a world title shot at WrestleMania.
Sometimes, the company decides shake up the battle royal. The world championship has been on the line twice in this 30-man bout. WWE increased the number of contestants to 40 in 2011 and 50 in 2018 for the Greatest Royal Rumble. But these occasions proved to be one-offs.
WWE’s calendar of events always features the Royal Rumble in January. Ever since 1988, the Rumble has made men into superstars, superstars into legends, and legends into gods. Winning the Royal Rumble, or even having a dominating showing in a losing effort, can bump you up the card.
On the other hand, the Royal Rumble can also provide a source of embarrassment. It’s awfully easy to get eliminated pretty quickly. Once that happens to you one time, it can often become a trend. The Rumble gets in peoples’ heads.
