ZENGEZA West legislator and MDC Alliance Deputy Chairperson Job Sikhala has accused Speaker Jacob Mudenda of ignoring a High Court judgment that ordered the reinstatement of Tendai Biti and five other recalled MPs.
Biti was recalled with five other MPs who were voted into the House of Assembly on behalf of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The recalls were made after a factional secretary general of the PDP general Benjamin Rukanda had written to Mudenda last month recalling the MPs.
The affected MPs are; Willias Madzimure of Kambuzuma, Settlement Chikwinya – Mbizo, Kucaca Phulu – Nkulumane), Sichelesile Mahlangu – Pumula and Regai Tsunga – Mutasa South.

Nullification of parliamentary recalls a blow to Zanu-PF: Analysts
Nkulumane MP Kucaca Phulu
The Wednesday High Court nullification of the recalling of six MDC Alliance legislators by the People’s Democratic Party (PDMove to TrashP), has dented the credibility of the Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda, political analysts have said.
The MPs recalled last month and set to return to the August house following the landmark ruling are Tendai Biti (Harare East), Mbizo MP, Settlement Chikwinya, Willias Madzimure (Kambuzuma), Kucaca Phulu (Nkulumane), Regai Tsunga (Mutasa South), and Sichelesile Mahlangu (Pumula).
The High Court nullified their recall after ruling that the act, initiated by one Benjamin Rukanda, was illegal since he was not the bonafide secretary-general of that party.
Reprieve for PDP legislators
Court Reporter
THE man who recalled MDC-Alliance vice president and legislator, Mr Tendai Biti and five others from Parliament, is not a member of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the High Court has ruled.
Speaker of the National Assembly Advocate Jacob Mudenda announced the expulsion recently after Mr Benjamin Rukanda, acting as PDP secretary-general wrote to him advising that the six had ceased to represent their party.
Other members who were recalled are William Madzimure of Kambuzuma, Settlement Chikwinya of Mbizo, Kucaca Ivumile Phulu of Nkulumane, Sichelesile Mahlangu of Pumula and Regai Tsunga of Mutasa South constituencies. The PDP challenged the expulsion at the High Court seeking an order declaring the recalls null and void, and declaring Mr Chikwinya as the party’s secretary-general.
