Police say they do not have a motive for the tragic shooting. Until we get more information as to the motive behind what occurred, you know, were going to continue to patrol that area heavily. That happened about 10 30 this morning over on loughboro road over in northwest. The suspect then led police on a pursuit around American University into bethesda. Thats where the suv, a honda crv crashed into a wooded area on little falls parkway. Thats near river road. He got out of the suv and ran away. The police are trying to resolve this peacefully. They brought over a Friendly Neighbor to try to talk to the man who is holed up. They have been asking what his favorite cigarettes are to get them for him. For nearly 12 hours they have been trying to convince the gunman man to give himself up, no luck. This morning, they say that the man shot a woman in the head and was still shooting when the police arrived. At that point he was on the porch and officers began talking to him, but he barricaded himself inside the home. The police will only say the shooting happened after an argument between two Family Members, but several neighbors say that he is an elderly man. Afternoon. But first a vicious assault in the heart of old town alexandria. And the victim is dead. The attack happened on tuesday on south Alfred Street just a block from busy king street. Reporter well, we know that he was just taking an evening stroll about 9 30 tuesday night here in the 200 block of south Alfred Street. As you said, just south of the busy king street area. We know that hes 69 years old. Police say they found the man injured but conscious. Obviously something had happened to him.
