Announcing "New Blues Festival VIII," the only year-ending Blues Festival in Southern California, taking place at Shoreline Aquatic Park, 200 Aquarium Way, Saturday, November 13. Gates open and Music Starts at 9:00am. Tickets: $50. (General Admission to the Festival); $100.
Jeannine Pearce, outgoing 2nd District council member, is hosting the kickoff of a large tree-planting project in the district to fill the area’s 2,300 empty tree wells as the final event of her tenure today, Thursday, at 7 p.m.

“Trees have shown to help reduce pollution, beautify our neighborhoods, and build a community,” said Pearce in a statement.
To launch the program, Pearce and others, including incoming 2nd District Councilwoman Cindy Allen, will be discussing how volunteers can participate in the project as well as the progress and future of the district, which includes Alamitos Beach, Bluff Heights, the East Village and coastal Downtown.
