MARYLAND The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for 10 Maryland counties ahead of a mid-week storm, saying that more than 8 inches of snow could fall in parts of the state.
The watch is from 7 a.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Thursday for all or parts of Allegany, Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Frederick, Garrett, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, and Washington counties. The heaviest snow, forecasters say, will most likely start Wednesday late afternoon and continue through the evening.

Two chances for snow this week in the Hudson Valley include a potential for substantial accumulation. (Shutterstock / Tuomas Kivioja)
HUDSON VALLEY, NY – The Hudson Valley could see more snow fall on Wednesday and Thursday than it did all of last winter, unless, of course, the next storm bypasses us as they all did last winter.
Before that, there is snow possible on Monday with a storm system coming from the southeast and most of the impact south of I-84, which could see a dusting to an inch or two of accumulation. Monday s gotten absolutely no attention that I ve seen, said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. Temps are going to be tumbling. The question will be how far north does this moisture shield get.
