away from representative nunes and his colleagues in the house and he can make it himself. i m going to have that conversation with the president right now. i think it s going through the process, through the house intel committee. they feel like they should play that role at this point. if it doesn t happen, we can address it at that point. i want to go back to immigration. there s a group of conservatives in the house who believe they have a bill that fits all of the criteria that the president laid out. i m wondering what the president s thought are on the bill and would he support congress passing that and would he sign it. i believe it addresses the principles that we ve laid out and would be something that we would support. john? thanks. the president on a few occasions has spoken of special counsel robert mueller s investigation as a witch hunt. poking didly on your team. he used that same phrase today when asked about it. did mr. mueller ask the president to submit to a
agreement but they agree on the need. a lot of individuals, democrats and republicans have voted for ending chain migration, ending the lottery, the visa lottery system in the past. that indicates their willingness and agreement on that issue as well. there s some certainly maybe the depth to which we go in each of those areas and that s part of the negotiation. we think there s a lot of things that we agree on. i think if we focus on what we agree on, a lot more than what we disagree on, we can have a lot of progress and hopefully get something to helps everybody and solves a problem. what is the president going to do to facilitate an agreement? he s going to continue what he s been doing. talking to members from both the republican side, democrats, house, senate and one of the things that i think has been very important in this process and one of the things important in the shut-down process is the president has laid out exactly what he wants to see and he s laid out the princi
process that went through a bipartisan committee. they made a recommendation. then the trade ambassador held hearings as well. he made a recommendation and then there was extensive meetings with the president. the president understands that. he understands the importance to the economy and the price of consumer goods to consumers. we ve taken that all into account as we made the decisions. the president cares enormously about growing the economy and keeping the economy on the right track and making sure that our consumers have the best opportunities possible. and he also cares for the workers and we have participation and wage growth. we have to do it right. we re committed to it. thanks very much. you ve been to davos a lot over the course of your career. the president i don t believe has been there before. so what is one thing that you think he will find there that he wouldn t expect? a lot of snow. 14 feet of snow.
interview? is that something that the president would be open to? look, as we ve said probably just about every day this year since we ve been here that we re going to be fully cooperative with the special counsel and we ll continue to do that throughout the process. we re also not going to comment on who may or may not or could be interviewed at any point. we re going to continue to be fully cooperative with the process. the president has said it a witch hunt and other members of the administration have said. why doesn t the president just get rid of bob mueller? mr. gidley, they re wasting taxpayers money? why doesn t he stop the investigation because it s wasting money? we want the see in come to a complete and full conclusion. i think we all know what everybody in this room would do if the president did that. i don t think that is helpful to the process. the president wants to see this
he called it one of the biggest stories in a long time. does he think there s a cover-up or why does he think this is one of the biggest stories in a long time? i think he thinks that there s a great cause for concern that five months worth of texts have gone missing, particularly given the individual has part of that process has been shown to be extremely bias against the president and was involved in what seems to be very inappropriate behavior. that is a great concern. you guys are absolutely obsessed with everything to do with collusion. if it has anything to do with the president. we hope that you ll take some of that same obsession, energy and direct it to the places that it looks like there could have been really inappropriate and possibly illegal behavior. just to follow up on that. does the president think there s needs to be a staff shakeup at
