Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) introduced today the Northern Trust ESG Vector Score
TM, a measurement that assesses publicly traded companies in the context of financially relevant environmental, social and governance (ESG) related criteria that could impact their operating performance. It can be used in constructing and managing investment portfolios and stewardship activities.
The ESG Vector Score focuses on the magnitude and direction of key ESG related business issues likely to have a financial impact on companies and hence a portfolio s performance. It provides a consistent, transparent methodology to gain greater clarity when building and managing sustainable portfolios.

Shundrawn Thomas, president of $1.1 trillion Northern Trust Asset Management, has been writing letters to the industry calling for more accountability in diversity and leadership.
In Part 1 of this series, taken from an edited interview with Thomas, he explained his reasons for writing them and called for more empathy. NTAM selects first global head of sustainable investing and stewardship
Julie Moret
Julie Moret was appointed global head of sustainable investing and stewardship at Northern Trust Asset Management.
The position is new, and Ms. Moret oversees the firm s sustainable investing and global engagement policies. She s also responsible for fostering research and product development plans, furthering the integration of sustainability across asset classes and being an outward-facing representative for NTAM to external industry associations.
She started Tuesday, a spokeswoman said.
Based in London, Ms. Moret leads a team of global ESG specialists. The size of the team could not immediately be learned.
