Chelsea could have to pay Brighton up to £7.65million in compensation for the signings of teenagers Shumaira Mheuka and Zak Sturge, a tribunal has ruled.Mheuka, 16 and Sturge, 19, both joined Chelsea from Brighton in the summer of 2022.A Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC) ruled at a hearing last week that Chelsea must pay Brighton an initial basic fee of £1m for the signing of forward Mheuka and £900,000 for left-back Sturge. These could rise to as much as £4.25m and £3.4m respectively if a selection of clauses are met.Brighton also retain a 20 per cent sell on clause for both players.Brighton will receive £250,000 if Mheuka signs his first professional Chelsea contract, which he can do when he turns 17 in October. They will receive a further £250,000 if he makes his senior Chelsea debut, and an additional £250,000 if he makes his full international debut.
