Despite substantial rainfall in the past month, Bengaluru is grappling with a consistent decrease in its groundwater levels. In July, the water table across various parts of the city plummeted by nearly four metres in comparison to the same period in the previous year.
As per the report, groundwater in Bengaluru East is now reachable at 50-53 metres below ground level. In Bengaluru North, South and Yelahanka, it is available at 10-20 metres below ground level.
While the groundwater table in Bengaluru South has recorded a drop of more than four metres below ground level in May compared with May 2022, East has recorded a drop of 2 metres below the ground level.
