SHREVEPORT, LA. - In the midst of losing multiple complexes that offered affordable housing, Shreveport is working to slowly fill the need in the community.
A Shreveport housing complex that provided assisted housing to residents of Shreveport for 68 years will be demolished and replaced with new housing.
The Shreveport Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport is scheduled to demolish Wilkinson Terrace and break ground across the street at what will be the new Fairfield Estates.
“This is an exciting time for the community that once housed many families over the years at Wilkinson Terrace,” said Bobby Collins, CEO of the Housing Authority. “As we say goodbye to the old, it is an awesome opportunity to usher in hope for new families who will occupy units at the Fairfield Estates.”

Quite a few interesting items were advanced to Caddo Parish Commission’s Thursday meeting.
Among those is an ordinance amending all of Chapter 4 of the Code of Ordinances pertaining to permits for the sale of alcoholic beverage handling cards.
The commission finds that changes in the hearings for violation of parish ordinances regarding alcoholic beverage permits would be in the best interest of the public and permit holders.
Language in the ordinance states further that changes in the penalties for the violator of the alcoholic beverage permits are warranted and that moving for the creation of an Alcoholic Beverage Committee to conduct hearings and make recommendations for penalties, would improve and streamline the process.
