Nevada Democrats are riding high after this past legislative session. They expanded mail-in voting, banned ghost guns, and decriminalized minor traffic violations. They also passed Assembly Bill 495, a new tax on the state’s gold and silver mines. It’s a decades-long feat that Democratic leaders say came down to the 11th hour.  But Native Americans say they were left out of those discussions. “This is the one time, if ever, the tribes should be involved. It just did not happen,” said Brian Mason, a member of the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation.  Mason explained that he and other tribal representatives tried to get involved in the conversation around the new mining tax early on, but had no luck.
