Penarth traders looking forward to reopening on Monday

Penarth traders looking forward to reopening their shop doors AS non-essential shops prepare to open in Wales on Monday, we spoke to some local traders across Penarth about how they are getting ready. A year of coronavirus regulations and restrictions have meant that many changes and adaptations have had to take place. In-store purchases were for the most part out of bounds for most shops, and many local businesses took to online selling. And, having been closed since before Christmas, local traders are looking forward to re-opening next week. Craig Parker-Trott, co-owner of Apothecary64, began utilising social media to advertise his home fragrance store when the country went into its first lockdown last year.

Penarth traders Amazon inspired ShopAppy marketplace

Penarth’s virtual marketplace is off to a great start – with orders already coming in THE success of Penarth’s virtual marketplace is already showing – with six traders already live, and many more signed up. A few weeks back, it was announced that traders in the area would be bringing their own Amazon-inspired virtual marketplace to the town – to support independents. The idea came about after Angelina Hall, co-owner with Cathy O’Doherty of Glass By Design, was racking her brain on how to help businesses in the area during the early days of the pandemic. Foxy s Deli and Cafe, Glass by Design, Apothecary 64, Gin64, Willmore s 1938 and Allen Sadler Hair Studio are the first who have enrolled to feature on the site – 22 other businesses have signed up already.
