A NEW play area has opened in Shoebury today after a £300,000 investment. The play area in Shoebury Common North was approved by Southend Council in August, and is an inclusive space and includes, swings, slides multi play units and other great play equipment. The £300,000 investment in enhancing Shoebury Common North comes from council’s capital programme. Paul Jenkinson, head of parks and open spaces for the council, said: “The community have had a long-held ambition to reveal the potential of this part of the seafront, which has some of the finest Blue Flag beaches in the borough and boasts commanding views of the estuary.
