HCA tussle takes a new twist; all eyes are on AGM

The tussle over the appointment of an Ombudsman cum Ethics Officer in the Hyderabad Cricket Association has taken a new turn with the Telangana High Court upholding the appointment of Justice Deepak Verma, retired Supreme Court judge, for the post.
Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao delivered the order setting aside the order of a lower court which had suspended the earlier appointment of Justice Verma.
It may be recalled that last year Mohammad Azharuddin, President of the HCA, had written a letter to Justice Verma referring to his consent to be appointed to the post of Ombudsman cum Ethics officer for a period of one year from the date of taking charge. No IPL matches in Hyderabad: Azharuddin responds to criticisms

Hyderabad: Responding to the criticisms over no IPL matches in Hyderabad, Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president Mohammed Azharuddin said that all attempts were made to ensure that Hyderabad is selected as one of the venues for season 14 of the tournament.
However, in the end, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council did not select Hyderabad as one of the IPL venues, he added.
Azharuddin further told that he had gone to Ahmedabad and spoke to secretary Jay Shah in this regard.

The India-England cricket rivalry dates way back to 1932 when a CK Nayudu-led Indian squad toured England for a one-off Test. India were beaten by 158 runs.
