In Mumbai, 2.3 lakh autos and 20,000 kaali-peeli taxis ferry over a million commuters daily
MUMBAI: From March 1, you will have to pay at least Rs 3 more for a ride in taxi or autorickshaw in MMR. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority on Monday approved the minimum fare hike for autorickshaws to Rs 21 from Rs 18, and for kaali-peeli taxis to Rs 25 from Rs 22 now.
Justifying the hike, transport minister Anil Parab said it has been done after five years as against the 2017 Khatua committee’s recommendation of a 50-paise hike every year. In Mumbai, 2.3 lakh autos and 20,000 kaali-peeli taxis ferry over a million commuters daily.
