Gov. Kathy Hochul has until April 23 to make a new selection for the next leader of the state's court system, after the state Senate rejected her first choice in February.
Greased for passage is a bill concocted by Gov. Hochul and Senate Democrats to short-circuit the appointment process to the Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court. They have the votes to shove it through and alter a system that has been in place since the 1970s, but their fooling around violates the state Constitution and will be overturned when the inevitable lawsuit is filed. Someone please step up and sue.
