Complete end-of-life planning
As an employee of Haven Hospice in 2003, I was asked to be the coordinator of “end of life” issues in our community.
A terrific committee developed the Advance Directive Kit. Subsequently, I had the rewarding opportunity to hold many community workshops, related to decision making, planning ahead and describing one’s wishes and values about quality of life. It has been a real privilege, to relate so closely with people, in meaningful dialogue about such personal thoughts and values.
All of us in health care understand the seriousness of this process, in dealing with care at the end of life. I urge everyone to complete this planning, designating someone to speak for you, if the time occurs that you cannot speak for yourself.
