The number of reported antisemitic incidents across New Jersey and the nation remained at historic highs in 2020, even amid pandemic guidelines that kept Americans distanced from one another and inside their homes for much of last year, according to the Anti-Defamation League s annual audit.
New Jersey, which had 295 reported incidents last year, had the second-highest number of antisemitic incidents after New York, which had 336, according to the audit.
The ADL s annual audit was released on Tuesday, the second anniversary of the white supremacist attack on the synagogue in Poway, California. The audit recorded 2,024 antisemitic incidents nationally, a decline of 4% from 2019 but still the third-highest number recorded since 1979, when the ADL began compiling its annual reports.
