The initial public offering (IPO) of India s largest insurance company LIC is likely after October this year, a top official said on Tuesday laying out the government s divestment calendar that includes completing the sale of flag carrier Air India and oil firm BPCL within the first half of the next fiscal. Targeting to raise Rs 1.75 lakh crore from the asset sale to finance projects aimed at reviving the pandemic battered economy, the government is also looking to sell Shipping Corp of India (SCI), IDBI Bank Ltd and two other public sector lenders in the fiscal year beginning April 1.

137% increase in Budget outlay for health
The government has proposed Rs 2,23,846 crore Budget outlay for health and well being for 2021-22, compared to Rs 94,452 crore in the current fiscal, an increase of 137 per cent. Sitharaman announced a new Centre-sponsored scheme Prime Minister Atmanirbhar Swasthya Bharat Yojana with an outlay of Rs 64,180 crore to boost healthcare infrastructure across the country. Under the new scheme, capacity for primary, secondary, and tertiary care health systems in the country will be developed. The main interventions under the scheme will support over 17,000 rural and 11,000 urban wellness centres.
